Wendy writes whatever.
Whenever…
But sometimes I get stuck.
Not on the writing, that so far still works.
Everything else needs a start, some extra motivation, a push.
And then I met them. Purely by chance.
Or was it?
My Pushers, I fondly called them at first when Ms. Ayodike invited me to join.
They were by my estimation already a Posse, established, determined and ready to rumble. A group of Fine Writers.
Arlene Walrond had books in publication, Aya Taliba Ayodike had successfully debuted herĀ first novel, and the sneak peeks from Roamar Achat-Saney promised an immersive Biographical fiction.
They seemed to know what they wanted and were just curating the right balance of characters to obtain their end goal.
Meetings were staggered, I missed a few, my schedule was sometimes not my own.
They didn’t give up on me, check-ins and meeting notes came with the ease of the personalities I wasn’t ready for.
Because yes, when a group is composed of ladies you can get big personalities that can’t always be reasoned with.
It can be a turn off for some but for me it was a start.
My pushers became my starters.
The ideas started flowing, the sharing, the critiques, the nurturing and the growth happened at a rapid pace on Thursdays meetings online or face to face encounters.
Staggered became solid.
Fast forward to now, the last to join and the last to submit this my very first blog for our website, Caribbean Fine Writers.
A group website is no easy feat, the clash of ideas and difference of opinions might break some groups into non-existence.
For us it balanced the scales, motivating us to see past differences and produce something stronger.
My starters were Motivators.
So here it is, my first blog, for a website I own with 3 other writers.
Caribbean Fine Writers.
We’re writing our way into exciting times and hopefully into the hearts of readers. Caribbean and beyond.
